ABOUT

2 Days In Quito is a feature film which was born in the back of a taxi in Ecuador’s capital city one night by writer-director Jamaal Hepher...

Travelling in taxis is something any tourist or city native is likely to do frequently. For several minutes you share a space, conversing or not, with a complete stranger. Yet there’s something starkly intimate, and frankly vulnerable, about sharing that silence for such a time. This notion was the driving force behind the story.

From that moment on, I knew that 2 Days In Quito would be my first feature film. As my producing partner Emily Lyhne-Gold and I both hailed from London, we saw this as a uniquely wonderful opportunity to create a story spoken in Spanish and set in Latin America, with influences from halfway across the world.

The scope of the script was ambitious, and this was reflected in our large cast and numerous locations across the city. As I approached the story, something that was highly important to me was diversity amongst the cast. Ecuador, alongside many Latin American nations, is made up of an extremely diverse population, including mestizos, indigenous and Afro-descendants.

The film is a British-Ecuadorian co-production and our crew was made up of young and experienced Ecuadorians at the forefront of their film industry.

2 Days In Quito is currently in post-production with an aim for release next year.
